How do you add more languages

What is the best way to edit the list template to add more languages?

Looking at the Code, it looks like the best way to do this is by modifying the following files.  Is this all that needs to be done?

$\COB.SharePoint.Utilities.LanguageStore\12\TEMPLATE\FEATURES\LanguageStore\LanguageStoreList\schema.xml and

$\COB.SharePoint.Utilities.LanguageStore\12\TEMPLATE\FEATURES\LanguageStore\ListTemplates\LanguageStoreElements.xml

@pwalke,

Yes you've hit the nail on the head. Essentially you have three options in this type of "schema change" scenario with SharePoint:

  • add new columns through the UI
  • add new columns in the Feature XML using the files you mention and then activate the Feature (e.g. if you haven't yet started using the list)
  • add new columns using the object model (e.g. a script)

Remember though, that you shouldn't update the files you mention if the list is in use - you should use one of the other options if that's the case. If you have started using the list, as well as option 1 and option 3 you could consider:

  • using some export mechanism to export your current data (e.g. a script), delete the list, amend the Feature XML, create the list, import the data

HTH,

Chris.
